This month’s “Song of the Month” comes from Teddy Thompson’s new album. It’s a stunner — both the album and the song — and you should run, not walk, to your nearest CD store.

For those of you waiting for new songs, I have a “live” version of a new Ben Gott soon-to-be-non classic available RIGHT HERE. Why is “live” in quotation marks, you ask? Well, you’ll just have to listen for yourself:
Beat of Love (Live?) (3.6 MB, MP3)
Don’t forget the Ixtapa photo album!

The trip was great. I’ve got too much unpacking and stuff to do right now, but I’ll blog about it later. Suffice it to say that you’ll hear about the great airline mixup debacle near-catastrophe, “I call you friend,” the lone key, advice from Anchorage, Sonoma State pre-meds, and the drunk kid on the plane. And so much more…
Until then, feel free to view the slideshow!

I just returned from a Hall + Oates concert at the Mohegan Sun Arena. The concert itself was great. Hall + Oates sounded great (yes, they can sound great), and I was happily surprised to see T-Bone Wolk playing bass for them. (He’s played bass for Elvis Costello and Shawn Colvin, among many, many others.)
The only bad part of the evening is that I got us tickets in the nosebleed section. The way the Arena is built means that everyone has a good seat; this is only bad news for those of us who are afraid of heights. There is hardly any seatback in front of you, and the seats rise at an ungodly angle. I did fine when the crowd was in the dark, but after the songs, when they turned the house lights up, I had to shut my eyes. Oh, well. A lesson for next time.
Now late to bed, early to rise…It’s off to Boston at 1:30pm and then on an Aeromexico flight at 5:45 sharp on Monday morning!

Tomorrow, I am going here:

Fortunately, Cingular upgraded my plan (for free!) so I can bring my phone along. And the hotel has complimentary Internet access, so I might just blog from Mexico…
Can’t wait…!

I cleaned out my closets today. I tend to just throw things in, which is bad, I guess. But they’re CLEAN!

Before…

…and After!

It’s been a long time since I read Frank Zappa’s Senate testimony from 1985. (In fact, the last time I read it was in the fall of 2000, when I wrote this paper for Dr. David Collings’s “The Body in Literature” course.)
If you haven’t read Zappa’s words recently, you should. He’s right.
